Commitment to Local Empowerment

Pfuko Resources pledges its unwavering commitment to local empowerment through meaningful SMME support programmes, skills training and employment creation, and the active support of local community initiatives that drive sustainable socio-economic development.

SMME Support Programmes

We actively partner with Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) in and around Lephalale and the greater Limpopo province by providing sub-contracting opportunities, mentorship, and capacity-building support. Our procurement policies prioritise local suppliers, ensuring that a meaningful share of our project spend directly benefits community-based businesses. We further assist emerging enterprises with compliance guidance, tender preparation, and access to markets that would otherwise remain out of reach.

Training & Employment

As a youth-owned and woman-led enterprise, we understand the transformative power of skills development and gainful employment. Pfuko Resources invests in artisanal training, learnerships, and internship programmes that equip young people and women with the technical competencies required in the mining and industrial sectors. We work closely with Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges and Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs) to align our programmes with national skills priorities, creating a pipeline of work-ready talent drawn from local communities.

Community Initiatives

Beyond our core business operations, Pfuko Resources is dedicated to supporting local initiatives that uplift the communities in which we operate. This includes sponsoring educational programmes, participating in community health and wellness campaigns, supporting early childhood development centres, and contributing to infrastructure improvement projects in under-served areas. We believe that true empowerment extends beyond the workplace and into the fabric of daily community life, and we are committed to being a responsible corporate citizen that leaves a lasting, positive impact wherever we operate.

Our Broader Commitment

Pfuko Resources recognises that sustainable economic transformation requires deliberate, sustained action across multiple fronts. We are committed to advancing Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) not merely as a compliance exercise, but as a core business philosophy embedded in everything we do. This means prioritising procurement from black-owned and women-owned enterprises, ensuring that at least 60% of our ownership and management represent historically disadvantaged individuals, and continuously measuring our socio-economic impact against clear, transparent targets. We further pledge to maintain open dialogue with community stakeholders, traditional leadership, and local government to ensure that our empowerment efforts are aligned with the real, evolving needs of the communities we serve. Our goal is simple yet profound: to demonstrate that industrial excellence and social transformation are not competing priorities, but rather complementary forces that, when pursued together, create shared prosperity for all.

Why It Matters

From Extraction to Empowerment

Africa holds an estimated 30% of the world's mineral reserves, yet the continent has historically captured only a fraction of the value generated from these resources. The Africa-to-Africa Mineral Strategy seeks to fundamentally reshape this reality by promoting local beneficiation, intra-African trade in processed minerals, and industrial value-addition that creates jobs and builds capacity within African communities rather than exporting raw wealth to foreign refineries and manufacturers.

This strategy aligns directly with the African Union's Africa Mining Vision (AMV) and the Africa Green Minerals Strategy (AGMS), both of which call for a transparent, equitable, and optimal exploitation of mineral resources to underpin broad-based sustainable growth and socio-economic development across the continent. Pfuko Resources is proud to position itself at the forefront of this transformative agenda.

South Africa's Role

South Africa as a Beneficiation Hub

South Africa's 2025 Critical Minerals and Metals Strategy recognises the enormous opportunity for local processing and beneficiation of critical minerals. Estimates suggest that local processing could create up to 2.3 million jobs across the African continent and increase Africa's GDP by as much as 12%. As a Level 1 BEE contributor operating in one of South Africa's most mineral-rich regions, Pfuko Resources is uniquely positioned to contribute to this national and continental objective.

Through our industrial equipment supply, mechanical solutions, and maintenance capabilities, we enable the very infrastructure required for mineral beneficiation -- from compressed air systems that power mining operations to the pumps, valves, and electrical systems that keep processing plants running efficiently and safely.

Local Beneficiation

Supporting the shift from exporting raw minerals to processing and refining them locally, thereby retaining economic value within African borders. This includes equipping processing facilities with reliable industrial equipment and maintenance services that enable continuous, efficient operations.

Intra-African Trade

Championing the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) framework to facilitate cross-border trade in processed mineral products between African nations. By building robust supply chains within the continent, we reduce dependency on external markets and create self-sustaining economic ecosystems.

Skills & Technology Transfer

Investing in the transfer of technical skills and technologies that empower African professionals to participate meaningfully in all stages of the mineral value chain -- from exploration and extraction through to processing, manufacturing, and distribution of finished mineral products.

Ensuring that the benefits of mineral resource exploitation flow directly to local communities through job creation, local procurement, infrastructure development, and community investment programmes that build lasting prosperity beyond the life of any single mining operation.
